Ulanda Blair is Curator, Moving Image at M+, Hong Kong, a role she has held since 2016, leading up to and following the museum’s opening in 2021. At M+ she is helping build the preeminent collection of Asian artists’ moving image, while developing exhibitions, commissions, screenings, publications, festivals, and events.
 
In addition to co-curating the museum’s weekly cinema programme and annual Asian Avant-Garde Film Festival, some of her key M+ projects include moving-image commissions by Yang Fudong (2024), Sarah Morris (2024), Nalini Malani (2023), Ellen Pau (2022), and Moniker (2022) on the giant M+ Facade; the exhibition CRUCIFIED TVS—NOT A PRAYER IN HEAVEN by YOUNG-HAE CHANG HEAVY INDUSTRIES (2021-22); and the moving-image festival The Hidden Pulse (co-curated with Sarah Rees) at the Sydney Opera House (2019). She is currently developing a major 2026 exhibition about the legacies and global impact of fantasy in Asian visual culture, while also overseeing the M+ Mediatheque, a permanent play-on-demand exhibition featuring over 250 artists’ videos.
 
Previously, Ulanda was Curator, Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) (2011-2016) where she delivered ten exhibitions across contemporary art, cinema, television, and animation, including the major international touring exhibition DreamWorks Animation: The Exhibition, co-curated by ACMI and DreamWorks. She was also Curator in Residence at the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale (2012) and Setouchi Triennale (2010) in Japan.
